Manage Leads in Clio Grow

Leads in Clio Grow are categorized and appear in the Leads tab for review and action. These leads can come from third-party integrations (i.e., Google's Local Services Ads for Clio), your firm’s website connected via the Grow API endpoint, your firm’s Clio Website, Clio Scheduler, or your Grow AI intake agent. The relevant information for each lead is displayed for you so you have all the information you need to know whether to accept the lead or refer them out. For example, leads with an appointment scheduled via Clio Scheduler will show the appointment date and time and relevant information that was provided so you know how to prepare if you accept the lead.

Set up marketing leads

To start receiving leads, connect your Clio Grow account to a third-party integration using your unique lead capture token. Leads submitted from a third-party source are created in the Leads tab. Follow these steps to access your lead capture token.

Note: If you create your own integration to connect to Clio Grow, you will need to use the API endpoint. Learn more in the section below.
  1. Click the user menu (top right) > Grow settings > Integrations.
  2. Scroll down to Lead capture.
  3. Under Lead capture token, click Copy.
  4. Use this token to connect your Clio Grow account to a third-party integration.

Enable lead notifications

You can choose to receive email notifications when a new lead is added to your account. To enable or disable this setting:

  1. Click the user menu (top right) > Grow settings > Personal.
  2. Scroll down to Notifications.
  3. Check or uncheck the boxes to receive a notification for new leads and appointments via Email and/or Mobile app.

Add, ignore, restore, and delete leads

Leads added to your Clio Grow account through the various third-party marketing integrations, your firm’s website connected via the Grow API endpoint, your firm’s Clio Website, or Clio Scheduler, are listed in the Leads page. For each lead, the relevant information is provided so you can decide how to handle each lead. You can accept a lead, or remove the lead from your list (for example if the lead is spam or if there is another reason to not meet with them). Removed leads can be restored from the Ignored or Spam tabs.

Tip: If you use Google's Local Services Ads for Clio, you can also dispute leads and view disputed leads.

Use Grow AI to assist with lead intake

For your convenience, leads added to your Clio account via Clio Grow's AI intake agent are listed in the Leads page, specifically the Grow AI subtab. Grow AI analyzes lead details to create a summary along with an assessment of client fit. Click Review assessment for a particular lead to view additional data about the lead as well as Grow AI's assessment. When ready, complete your lead intake processes similar to your intake process for marketing leads.

Interaction details

Alongside standard lead details like contact information and the time the lead was created, leads that Grow AI captured include a record of the conversation:

  • Website chat: A summary of the chat and a full copy of the original chat exactly as it occurred.
  • Phone: A summary of the call and a full transcript, including the caller's situation and any outstanding questions.
  • Email: A summary of the email exchange and the information Grow AI collected.

Fit assessment

To assess client fit, Grow AI analyzes the information provided by your prospect against the intake criteria you set for your firm. For example, Grow AI might assess whether the lead's needs align with the practice areas your firm takes, whether the lead's location is in an area your firm serves, or whether there is a high likelihood of a conflict of interest.

To change Grow AI's assessment label, click the down arrow next to the rating and select a different rating category.

Lead capture API endpoint

If you create your own integration, you can connect it to your Clio Grow account using Clio’s API endpoint, which lets you submit leads into Clio Grow via a web form or other source. Our Developer Documentation provides everything you need to know about using the Lead Inbox API Endpoint.
