You can quickly create tasks and notes directly in Clio Manage using the create functions in the AI Launchpad. Manage AI assigns these actions to the current firm user and links them to the current matter or contact unless you specify otherwise in your query.
Note: Manage AI is a package of AI-powered capabilities that can be activated on Essential, Advanced, and Expand subscriptions. If your firm needs to upgrade, contact a firm administrator.
Access Manage AI create functions
You can access all of the Manage AI quick actions through the AI Launchpad.
Tip: A query is the question or command you enter into the chat. You can view a list of example queries to help you get started.
- Access the AI Launchpad by clicking the gem icon in the main navigation bar.
- Select Create from the menu.
- Choose the item you want to create (Time Entry, Expense Entry, Event, Task, or Note).
- Enter your request or command into the chat panel.
Create time entries and expenses
Quickly create billable time entries and expenses by providing details such as duration, cost, and matter information. First, open the AI Launchpad, and then use Manage AI to create time and expense entries.
Tip: Manage AI can also proactively suggest tasks and unlogged time entries on the AI Action Card on the matter dashboard.
- Time entry example: Create a time entry for 45 minutes on the Smith Matter with the description "Drafting correspondence."
- Expense entry example: Create an expense entry for $50 for filing fees on the Jones case today.
- Default details: If you do not provide specific details (date, user, rate), Manage AI automatically assigns the current date, current user, and your default rate.
Schedule single calendar events
Manage AI helps you organise your schedule by creating new events on your Clio Calendar.
Note: To automatically extract multiple deadlines and events from a court document, you can use the AI Scheduling feature in the AI Launchpad, instead of manually creating a single event via the chat panel.
- Event creation example: Create a 1-hour event tomorrow at 2 p.m. with [Client Name] for a case review.
- Required information: Provide details such as the time, date, and participants.
- Default details: If no details are provided, Manage AI will assign the current date and user.
Create tasks and notes
You can use Manage AI to create tasks for yourself or your team and to quickly record and organise notes linked directly to a matter or contact.
Tip: Manage AI can also provide activity recommendations, suggesting time entries based on actions like completing tasks.
Create tasks
- Access the AI Launchpad and select Create, then Task.
- Specify the relevant information, such as the due date or priority level.
- Example query: Create a high-priority task named Settlement offer draft review for [Client Name] due on October 9th.
- Default details: If no details are provided, Manage AI will assign the current date and user.
Create notes
- Access the AI Launchpad and select Create, then Note.
- Enter the note content and specify the matter.
- Example query: Create a matter note for [Matter Name], saying, “Had a conversation with the client on October 3, 2024, regarding the evidence for allegations of neglect.”
- Default details: If no details are provided, Manage AI will assign the current date and user.
