Clio Duo helps manage client communications by pulling logs and drafting responses to messages. If you need to retrieve recent emails or phone logs, Clio Duo can provide a history of communication across your matters. Clio Duo also offers options for drafting both quick, concise responses and longer, context-based replies, helping you stay efficient and responsive in your client interactions.

Ask about communications
You can ask Clio Duo to pull communications from anywhere in your Clio Manage. To do so, launch Clio Duo and ask about communications across your matters. Clio Duo will review your communication logs and respond in the chat modal.
Tip: Clio offers email and a secure online portal for client communication.
- In Clio Manage, click the Clio Duo Badge to reveal the chat panel. You can also click Ask Duo from the Global Search Bar.
- Select Ask a question and enter a specific and concise query. For example:
- Show me the recent email communications for [Contact Name].
- Show me the phone logs for [Matter Name].
- Optional: Select Help me write and select write a letter, write an email, or rewrite a paragraph, and provide the requested information so Clio Duo can help you write.
- Optional: Click the three dots at the end of the response to copy or provide feedback.
Draft quick or suggested responses
With Clio Duo in Clio Manage, you can quickly respond to client messages using quick or suggested responses. Quick responses are brief, typically 3 to 4 words, while suggested responses offer longer, context-based replies tailored to the conversation. Clio Duo can also suggest responses via the Outlook add-in, saving you time while maintaining a professional tone.
Duo can assist you in communicating with your clients via their client portal.
- Go to the main Communications tab.
- Select the Client portals subtab and click the client portal where you want to communicate.
- You can also find the or client's portal from their matter's Communications subtab.
- Click Help me write, then provide Duo with a the information necessary for the message.
- You can also create a initial message draft, then click Help me write to ask Duo to modify the message according to your instruction.
- Optional: Click Refine to provide additional information about how you want Duo to refine the message.
- When you are satisfied with the message, click Send.
Tip: Clio’s Outlook Add-in is an integration between Clio Manage and Outlook that makes it easy to file email correspondence to Clio Manage.
- In Outlook, locate the email within the thread.
- From the add-in, select the Reply subtab.
- Optional: Under Suggested replies, click Configure suggestions to adjust the tone and length of the suggested responses.
- Optional: To update the default tone, click the gear icon, select the desired tone and length, and click Update suggestions.
- Click Copy to use the suggested reply.
