Clio Grow Custom Fields

Note: This article describes unified Clio. Unified Clio is available to firms in stages, so your account may still use the old experience. To switch to the old experience, open the user menu. Then select Switch to the old experience. Your data and settings are the same in both experiences.

You can create, edit, and delete custom fields in Clio Grow to capture additional information for your contacts and matters. This article guides you through managing these custom fields directly from Clio Grow.

Note: All users can use custom fields, but only Clio Administrators can create, edit, or delete custom fields.

Create custom fields

  1. Click the user menu (top right) > Grow settings > Custom fields.
  2. Click New field next to either Contact fields or Matter fields.
  3. Add the field name and select a field type.
  4. Optional: Check the box for Add to all new contacts or Add to all new matters.
    1. If checked, this custom field will automatically be added to the fillable page when you create a new opportunity and contact via the Quick intake option.
  5. Click Create custom field.

Edit custom fields

You can edit the name of your field and the checkbox to add it to new contacts or matters. If the field type needs updating, you will need to create a new custom field with the correct field type and delete the previous custom field.

  1. Click the user menu (top right) > Grow settings > Custom fields.
  2. Next to the relevant field, click Edit.
  3. Update the field name and/or check/uncheck the box for Add to all new contacts or Add to all new matters.
  4. Click Save.

Delete custom fields

  1. Click the user menu (top right) > Grow settings > Custom fields.
  2. Next to the relevant field, click the delete (trash can) icon.
  3. When the warning prompt appears, review it, check the box and then click Delete.
