The Translate Documents workflow in Clio Work translates one or more uploaded documents into a target language of your choice using Vincent AI. Vincent processes long legal documents in full and returns a single complete translation for each document. This article covers how to open the workflow, upload documents, set the target language, and work with the output.
Important: Vincent AI translations support understanding and review. They are not certified translations. Have a qualified legal professional or court-certified translator verify any translation before you rely on it in filings, evidence, negotiations, or court proceedings.
Open the translate workflow
- In Clio Work, select Vincent in the left navigation.
- Select More Workflows.
- Select the Translation category, then select Translate Documents.
Upload your documents
You can upload one or more documents from multiple sources. Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or select Add Documents and choose an upload path:
- Add from Matter or Add from Documents: select files already stored in Clio.
- File Upload: browse and select files from your computer.
- Folder Upload: upload a folder from your computer.
- Upload from Google Drive: select files from a connected Google Drive account.
- Upload from NetDocuments: select files from a connected NetDocuments account.
- Upload from SharePoint and OneDrive: select files from a connected SharePoint or OneDrive account.
Note: The first upload option appears as Add from Matter when a matter is associated with the workflow before you select it. Otherwise, it appears as Add from Documents.

Set the target language
After your documents upload, Vincent AI asks which language to translate into.
- In the language field, enter your target language, including any regional variant, such as English UK or Brazilian Portuguese.
- Select the arrow to submit.
- Vincent AI translates your documents and displays the result for each document.
Note: Translation quality is most reliable for Latin-alphabet languages. Results for symbol-based writing systems, such as Japanese and Korean, are less precise and best suited to high-level understanding rather than detailed review.
Work with the translation output
Vincent provides a separate translation for each document you upload. For each translated document, you can do the following
- Assign to Matter: attach the translation to a matter in Clio.
- Copy: copy the translated text to your clipboard.
- Save: save the translation in Clio Work.
- Download as Word: download the translation as a Word document.
- Edit in Legal Pad: open the translation in Legal Pad to make edits.
