Clio Payments lets your firm collect client payments online and route funds to the correct accounts. To start using Clio Payments, have first have to submit an application for Clio Payments where you provide information about your firm's business, ownership, and banking details. Once this application is approved, you can set up bank accounts (ledgers) in Clio Manage and connect then to your banking institution(s).
If you use Scheduler in Clio Grow, you can continue to collect payments for client appointments without interruption.
Note: Account administrators and the primary subscriber can activate Clio Payments.
Important: The LawPay integration ended on 31 August 2026. A firm that has not migrated from LawPay can still view its historical LawPay transactions in the read-only transactions view in Clio Manage.
Important: Clio’s payment processing partner does not have the ability to process transactions exclusively within one region. Your use of Clio Payments will include the transfer of transaction-related data to the United States for processing, including:
- the firm’s business name, business registration or incorporation papers, business address, email, phone number, business owner information, and information for the connected bank account (including account name, type, number, transit number, and institution number),
- client details, credit card information, and/or payout account information.

After your application is approved, connect each payout account to a ledger account to begin processing transactions.
Important: Payout accounts, added during the application, are connected to your real-world bank accounts. Ledger accounts, created in the Accounts tab, are the ledger accounts in Clio where you record bill and trust payments. When you connect each payout account to a the corresponding ledger account, you can start processing transactions with Clio Payments.

After you complete the identity verification form, your submission enters processing and review. Once your identity is confirmed, you receive an email confirming acceptance, and you can connect additional payout accounts.
