Clio Grow Marketing Sources

In Clio Grow, you can track how your marketing outreach turns prospective leads into first-time clients, as well as how outreach contributes to how your clients continued use of your services.

With campaign tracking, you can also record the specific marketing campaign that brought in a contact or matter, separately from the marketing source. For example, if you run the same promotion on Facebook and LinkedIn, you can track Facebook and LinkedIn as sources and the promotion as a campaign. This lets you see how the campaign performed overall and how each channel contributed.

Manage standard marketing sources

Standard marketing sources in Clio Grow are used for tracking common marketing channels like advertising, your website, and other online platforms. You can manage your standard marketing sources by adding, editing, or deleting sources. Once a standard marketing source is created, you can add it to a contact or matter.

  1. Go to Settings > Sources & campaigns.
  2. In the Sources tab, click New source.
  3. Add a source name.
  4. Click Create source.

Rename sources

You can edit the name of an existing marketing source as needed.

  1. Go to Settings > Sources & campaigns.
  2. Click the edit icon for the source you want to rename.
  3. Update the source name
  4. Click Save source.

Delete sources

If you no longer need a specific source, you can delete it from your account.

  1. Go to Settings > Sources & campaigns.
  2. Click the delete icon for the source you want to delete.
  3. Confirm the action by clicking Delete.

Deleting a source that was added to matters and/or contacts will remove that source from the matter and/or contact.

Manage campaigns

Campaigns let you track a specific marketing effort, such as a seasonal promotion or event, separately from the channel it ran on. Once you create a campaign, you can add it to contacts and matters alongside their marketing source.

Add Rename Delete
  1. Go to Settings > Sources & campaigns.
  2. Click the Campaigns tab.
  3. Click New campaign.
  4. Add a campaign name.
  5. Click Create campaign.
Tip: Name campaigns with a date and offer, so that you can easily select the right campaign for attribution and so that reports on campaign attributions are easy to understand.

Add, edit, and delete sources and campaigns in a matter

Once you have created marketing sources, you can add them to a matter. If you use campaigns, you can also select the campaign associated with the source.

Note: Matters can have multiple marketing sources which can be useful to track how continued marketing outreach contributes to turning a lead into a client and to providing ongoing services on the matter. In contrast, a contact can only have one source representing the initial outreach that establishes the firm’s relationship with the client.

Add Edit Delete
  1. Go to Matters.
  2. Click on the name of the relevant matter to open the matter’s page.
  3. For the Marketing section, click Edit to open a Marketing panel.
  4. Click Add new source.
  5. Select the source, campaign (optional), and the date at which the source became relevant.
  6. Click Create source.

Edit source for a contact

Note: While matters can have multiple marketing sources, a contact can only have one source representing the initial outreach that establishes the firm’s relationship with the client.

Once you have created marketing sources, you can add and edit it on the contact.

  1. Go to Contacts.
  2. Click on the name of the relevant contact to open the contact’s information page.
  3. For the Marketing section, click Edit to open a Marketing panel.
  4. Click the edit (pencil) icon for the marketing source.

Note: You can also update who the contact was referred by from this panel.
  5. Select the new source, campaign (optional), and/or set the date at which the source became relevant.
  6. Click Update source.
