In Clio Manage, the Bill Timeline is designed to help your firm answer client billing questions by providing a log of any bill events and communications. You can also access past versions of sent bills. For more detailed information, you can download a PDF of a historical version or export a CSV of the timeline information.
View bill timeline
Once a bill is approved, the timeline will show any event that results in a state change, all payment, edits to activities or expenses made when viewing, accrued interest, discounts, and communications. You can download previous and current trust requests and bills, view communication and export the timeline.
Note: If an action includes multiple events (such as approving and applying trust), each event will share the same timestamp on the bill timeline.
- Go to the Billing tab or the Bills subtab of a matter or client.
- Click the Bill ID number to view the bill.
- Scroll down to Bill Timeline to view a log of updates to the bill's state, internal edits, client payments, applied interest, and discounts.
- Download bill: Each time you send a bill, Clio Manage logs an event on the bill timeline to track this activity. You can view when the bill was sent and download the historical version from the timeline.
- Email log: When you send a bill to a client manually or using the bill reminder tool, Clio Manage automatically generates an email log to track communications. You can find more information about adding time to email logs here.
Export bill timeline
You can export a bill timeline in CSV format when viewing a bill or trust request. The export includes the date and time of the event and a description that includes the name of the user and details of the event.
To export a bill timeline:
- Go to the Billing tab or the Bills subtab of a matter or client.
- Click the Bill ID number to view the bill.
- Scroll down, under Bill Timeline click Export to begin the download.
