Manage Users in Clio Grow

In Clio Grow, administrators can invite users, set their permissions, and deactivate users who leave the firm. Accurate user access keeps intake work assigned to the right people and protects prospective client information. A current user list also keeps your licence count aligned with the people who need Clio Grow.

Note: Only administrators can invite, deactivate, or change permissions for users in Clio Grow. Firms with the Admin Console can also manage users across all Clio products in one place. Refer to Manage Clio Licences and Users.

Invite a new user

An invitation assigns one of your available Clio Grow licences to a new user. The invitation form lists how many licences remain on the account.

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, click Invite user.
  3. Complete the user invitation details.
  4. Click Confirm and send invites. The new user receives an email to complete their account setup.

Resend or revoke user invitations

Resend an invitation when the user missed the original email. Revoke an invitation when the user no longer needs access.

Resend an invitation

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, click Resend invite next to the user's name.
  3. Click Resend invite to confirm.

Revoke an invitation

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, click Revoke Invite next to the user's name.
  3. Click Revoke invite to confirm.

Change login email

Each user changes their own login email. To change the login for another firm user, an administrator deactivates that user and invites a new one.

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Personal.
  2. In the Security section, click Manage my security.
  3. Click Edit next to Email address.
  4. Enter your new email and your password.
  5. Click Save.

Set user permissions

Clio Grow has two permission types. The permission type decides which administrative areas a user can open.

  • Normal: This permission provides users with access to all areas of Clio Grow other than those limited to administrators.
  • Admin: This permission is limited to administrators. Administrators can change user permissions for all other administrators and all normal users. Administrators can do the following:
    • Open reports.
    • Export contacts and opportunities.
    • Invite and deactivate users.
    • Add or remove licences.
    • Update billing information.
    • Build, edit, cancel, and archive classic workflows.

Change a user's permission

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, under the Permission column, click Admin or Normal for the user.
  3. Select the permission.
  4. Click Assign permission.

Deactivate or reactivate users

Deactivate users who no longer need access to Clio Grow, and reactivate them at a later date. Removing a licence from the account is a separate step that requires Clio Support. To reduce both Clio Manage and Clio Grow licences by the same amount, contact Clio Support.

Deactivate a user

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, find the user and click Deactivate.
  3. In the warning prompt, select Deactivate user.

Reactivate a user

  1. Open the user menu in the top right, then go to Grow settings > Account.
  2. In the User settings section, find the user and click Reactivate. The prompt lists the licences remaining on the account.
  3. Select Reactivate user.
