Managing trust requests lets your firm keep requests accurate and remove ones that are no longer needed. You can find requests, edit them while they are in draft, delete drafts, and void approved requests that have not been paid. Keeping requests current helps clients receive the correct amounts and keeps your trust records clean.
Find trust requests
Trust requests appear in the main Billing tab, or the Bills subtab of a contact or matter. A trust request shows the word Trust in parentheses next to the bill ID, which sets it apart from a standard bill.
- Go to Billing.
- Select the All subtab.
- Click Filters.
- Optional: Select the matter or contact.
- For the Type field, select Trust.
- Click Apply filters.
Edit a trust request
You can edit a trust request while it is in draft and the approval process is in place. Generated trust requests in draft have fewer edit options than generated bills in draft.
- Go to Billing, or the Bills tab in a contact or matter.
- Click the Draft subtab.
- Click Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save trust request.
Delete a trust request
You can delete a trust request while it is in draft. After a request is approved and unpaid, you void it instead of deleting it.
- Go to Billing, or the Bills tab in a contact or matter.
- Click the Draft subtab.
- Click the down arrow next to Edit and select Delete trust request. You can also open the trust request, click More actions, and select Delete.
- In the warning prompt, click Delete trust request.
Void a trust request
You can void a trust request while it is approved and unpaid. After a payment is recorded, void is no longer available.
- Go to Billing, or the Bills tab in a contact or matter.
- Click the Unpaid subtab.
- Click the down arrow next to Edit and select Void trust request. You can also open the trust request, click the More actions dropdown, and select Void.
- In the warning prompt, click Void trust request.
