Once you have set up your funding sources and grants, your Legal Aid organization can associate grants to matters, reorder grants, set a primary grant for each matter, select grants for reports and exports, and remove grants from matters.

Add grants to matters

You can add a grant to a matter when creating a new matter or when editing an existing matter. A single matter can have unlimited grants.

Tip: Click Recents in the Clio Manage header to see a list of matters you recently viewed.
  1. Create a new matter or go to an existing matter and click Edit matter.
  2. Go to the Grants section.
  3. Next to Primary grant, select or enter the grant's name.
  4. Optional: Check the box for Use this grant for case reporting to track which grants should be counted towards reporting. This will impact whether the grant appears in the matter's dashboard and in data exports.
  5. Optional: Click Add a grant to add a second and/or third grant.
  6. Click Save matter.

 

Reorder grants and set primary grant

Once you have added grants to matters, you can change the order that they appear on matters and select the primary grant for each matter by dragging and dropping grants before or after other grants. The grant placed in the top position will be the primary grant.

  1. Go to a matter and click Edit matter.
  2. Under the Grants section, click the horizontal three line icon and drag it above or below another grant.
  3. Repeat step 2 for any grant that you want to reorder.
  4. Click Save matter.

 

Select grants for case reporting

Once you have added grants to matters, you can choose which of the grants should count toward reporting. The selected grants will appear in case reports and data exports. 

  1. Go to a matter and click Edit matter.
  2. Under the Grants section, check the box next to Use this grant for case reporting for any grant that you want to use in reports and exports.
  3. Click Save matter.

 

Remove grants from matters

Once applied to matters, you can remove grants from matters and replace them with new ones

Important: You cannot remove a grant from a matter if there are attached time or expense activities. To remove the grant, delete the time and expense activities first. 
  1. Go to a matter and click Edit matter.
  2. Under the Grants section, click the X beside the grant's name.
  3. Click Save matter.
