This article explains what data can be migrated from your current practice management software and how to export the data from that software. Software applications starting with the letters C, D, E, and F are listed below.

Caret Legal
Important: Some Caret Legal exports are experiencing technical difficulties. If your Caret Legal export is partially missing or incorrect, contact Caret Legal for a fixed dataset. You can also manually check your data after your migration to Clio is complete.
- Contacts

Note: Depending on the quality of your data, we may also be able to migrate tasks, notes, and calendar entries.
Contacts:
- Click contacts in the left column.
- Click Export. Depending on the volume of your contacts, the export may be sent via email to the Caret Legal user's email address.
Matters:
- Click matters in the left column.
- Click View and create a new View.
- Check all the boxes.
- Click the view that you created and select the matter status filter:
- Open: Only open matters
- Pending: Only pending matters
- Closed: Only closed matters
- All: Includes all matters (Open, Pending, and Closed)
- Click Download Spreadsheet.
Time entries:
- Click Time Entries.
- Select Invoice Status = Not Invoiced.
- Click Download Spreadsheet.
Flat fees:
- Click Flat Fees.
- Select Invoice Status = Not Invoiced.
- Click Download Spreadsheet.
Expenses:
- Click Expenses.
- Select Invoice Status = Not Invoiced.
- Click Download Spreadsheet.
Accounting (invoices):
- Click Accounting.
- Set filter as: invoices, and payments = Open.
- Click Download Spreadsheet.
Tasks, notes, and calendar entries:
- Open Caret Legal under an account that has full access.
- Click the dropdown menu next to your name.
- Click Firm Settings.
- Under Your Zola Account, click Export.
- Select location, typically in c:\Clio Export\ (creating the folder Clio Export)
- Click Export.
CaseEasy
- Contacts
- Matters
- Go to Cases in the navigation menu and then select Advanced Export in the top right.
- Select all necessary fields (case type, address of client, case numbers, etc.).
- Select CSV and start the export.
CaseFox
- Contacts
- Matters
- Unbilled time and expenses
Note: The reporting feature can be also be used for downloading selected data. This feature allows you to download selected data using various filter criteria.
Step 1: Create a full backup
When you create a full backup of all your data in CaseFox, the administrator on the account will receive a downloadable link.
- Click Settings/Reports in the top right corner.
- Select Export All.
Step 2: Export contacts, matters, and/or time and expense entries
Contacts:
You can export your client and case list in Excel format (link on the Dashboard).
- On the left side, click Client.
- Click All Client List. The All Clients Excel file should start downloading.
Matters:
You can export your client and case list in Excel format (link on the Dashboard).
- On the left side, click Cases. The Case Excel file should start downloading
Unbilled time and expenses:
You can export your time and expense entry data in PDF or Excel format. On note display screens, you will see PDF and Excel icons to download time and expense data. You can also export time entries from CaseFox and import them into the JurisTM accounting system. CaseFox can generate a Juris compliant CSV file in just one click.
- Click into Reports at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down and click to download the raw data for each year.
CaseLode

- Go to Data Menu > Case Management > Export Data.
- Choose the appropriate Source File.
- Select All Fields.
- Edit the Export File Path to point to where you want the file exported.
- Export File Type updated to Comma-delimited.
Note: If these export steps do not work, try looking for the .DBF files in the drive listed under the Source File. You may have to use Libre Office to open the .DBF files.
CASEpeer

- Request an export of all your firm’s case data from your CASEpeer client manager in advance. This export can be requested via their toll free number too: 1-888-605-7337. The email associated with your CASEpeer account will receive an email from CASEpeer with the subject Your CASEpeer data export is available. This process may take a few minutes.
- Click the link in the body of the email. You will be redirected to your CASEpeer account. For security purposes, you must be logged in to the account that the export was triggered for.
- On the Export Firm Data page, click Launch Export.
- Once the launch is finished, you will receive an email with the subject line Your CASEpeer data export is ready to download! Click the link in the body of the email. You will be redirected to your CASEpeer account.
- On the Export Firm Data page, click Download. Your browser will download a zip file containing your firm’s data.
Note: You can only request the export if you have the "export data pages access" permission. Additionally, this export only contains case data. Documents, photos, and recordings need to be requested separately.
CenterBase

Note: Your notes, calendar, tasks, email, outstanding balances, and unbilled time and expenses cannot be exported from the Centrebase software directly. Contact Centerbase and request a backup of your data.

- Click the cog icon and check all available boxes.
- Click Download Excel.
Matters:
- Select Matters from the Menu on the left.
- Click the cog icon and check all available boxes.
- Click Download Excel.
Trust balances:
- Select Matters from the Menu on the left.
- Click the cog icon and check all available boxes.
- When adding columns to the export, add the trust balance column (Reports > Trust Reports > Trust Balance by Matter Summary).

Clicktime

Note: You cannot differentiate between billed and unbilled time entries in Clicktime.

Clio Manage (Clio to Clio)

Note: The client list export is different from the matters export. Both should be exported.
- Click Reports.
- Go to Matter Activities > Client List.
- Select Print As: Excel.
- Click Download.
Activities (time and expenses):
- Click Activities > Time/Expense.
- Click Export above the list of activities. The Export Grid will open.
- Select Custom Export and pick the page range.
- Select Unbilled from the options available.
- Change Export Format to Excel (.xls).
- Click Export.
Accounts receivable:
- Click Reports > Accounting (Matters) > Accounts Receivable.
- Select All Dates unless otherwise requested/needed.
- Once your filters are set, click the View button at the top right of the window to preview the report .
- In the Print As field, select Excel(.xls).
- Click Download.
Calendar:
- Click Activities.
- Click Calendar.
- Click Details.
- Click Export.
- Select Custom Export and choose the pages you want to export as well as the format (CSV or Excel).
- Click Export.
Matter notes:
- Click Activities.
- Click Notes.
- Click Export.
- Select Custom Export and choose the pages you want to export as well as the format (CSV or Excel).
- Click Export.
Trust balances:
- Go to Reports > Trust > Trust Ledger Balance Report.
- For Bank Account, select All Banks.
- For Matter Owner, select All Matter Owners.
- For Sort By, select Client name.
- Under Report print options, check all the options.
- Click Download for Excel.

Daylite
- Contacts

Contacts and Projects:
- Select a Smart list for Contacts and choose View > Multi-Column List.
- Right-click (or control-click) the column header and select the columns you wish to display. You can also adjust the order of the columns by clicking the column header and dragging and dropping to the new position.
- Select the items you want to export.
- Choose File > Export > Export Visible Columns and Selected Rows to File.
- In the sheet that opens, enter a name, specify a location to save the file, and other details as needed.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 1-6 to export projects, but select All Projects instead of the Contacts smart list.
Contact notes, project notes, and emails:
- Select Notes from the sidebar.
- Select the items you want to export.
- Choose File > Export > ExportVisible Columns and Selected Rows to File.
- In the sheet that opens, enter a name, specify a location to save the file, and other details as needed.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps 1-5 to export emails, but select Emails instead of Notes.
Calendar in Apple iCal format:
- Go to File > Export > Export Calendar to Apple iCal. Daylite will open the Export to Apple iCal File Format window.
- To export the entire calendar, select All Dates. Otherwise, specify the start and end dates.
- The default export location for your calendar is the desktop. To specify a different
location from the desktop, click Browse, navigate to the location, and click Open. -
Optional: You can export each appointment category in Daylite as a separate calendar.
To do this, select the Export each category as a separate calendar checkbox. - Click Export.
eBility

Your version of eBility affects the directions that you should follow. Try one of the two set of steps listed below:
Option 1:
- Click the Admin tab.
- Select the Systems subtab.
- Click Export.

- Click the Admin tab.

- Click Export.
- When a new link appears below Export, click Download link.

- Go back to the main page and select Closed Files.

- In the Transactions section, adjust the date parameters.
- Click View.
- From the main report view, click the Export icon in the top left corner of the screen.
- In the Report Type, select CSV.
- Select the download location.
- Click Save.
FileMaker

- Select CSV from the dropdown.
- Click Export.
- Once the download is ready, download the report from the button in the bottom right corner of the page.
Unbilled expense entries:
- Click Reporting.
- Click Expense by Matter.
- Select all matters.
- Enter the Date Range.
- Select CSV from the dropdown.
- Click Export.
- Once the download is ready, download the report from the button in the bottom right corner of the page.
Accounts receivables (outstanding balances)
- Click Reporting.
- Click Accounts Receivable.
- Enter the Date Range.
- Select CSV from the dropdown.
- Click Export.
- Once the download is ready, download the report from the button in the bottom right corner of the page.
Calendar entries:
- Click Calendar.
- Ensure that any relevant users are checked on the left side of the page.
- Click Export Calendar (unlabelled button).
- Enter the Date Range.
- Select CSV from the dropdown.
- Click Export.
- Once the download is ready, download the report from the button in the bottom right corner of the page.
Trust balances:
- Click Reporting.
- Click Trust & Retainers Account Balances Report.
- Select all users.
- Enter the Date Range.
- Select CSV from the dropdown.
- Click Export.
- Once the download is ready, download the report from the button in the bottom right corner of the page.
FoundationIP (CPA Global)
- Matters
Note: You may be able to export other data by requesting a data export from FoundationIP.
- In FoundationIP, select Matters at the top of the screen.
- Use the search function to display matters and then enter an asterisk (*) in the File # field to view all matters in the system.
- If necessary, use the list option in the top right corner to customize the columns in the view.
- In the Download as dropdown menu, select CSV.
- Download the export and review it prior to import.
FreshBooks
- Clients
- Matters (not matter data)
- Click Clients.
- Click More Actions.
- Select Export Clients.
- Click on Reports.
- Scroll to the bottom to see Time Entries. Filter time entries by Client or Project.
- Click create report and export to excel. Your clients, secondary contacts, address information and notes will be exported in a CSV file.
Note: Time entries will not actually be exported.
