In Clio Manage, you can choose which firm users receive an email when a client pays an invoice through Clio Payments. Routing these emails to the right people keeps billing staff aware of incoming funds as soon as they arrive. Timely notice supports prompt reconciliation of each payment against the correct invoice.
Important: You can send payment notifications to a single recipient type: one permission level or one user group.
Set up payment notification emails
Payment notification emails are sent to the firm users you choose when a client's invoice is paid. The same recipients receive the email for a failed payment. The setting is on the Online payments settings page, which opens for users with permission to manage Clio Payments, such as Administrators. The setting controls firm emails only. Client emails follow their own rules.
Tip: When you create a user group for this purpose, name it Payment notifications so it is easy to recognize.
- Go to the user menu > Manage settings > Online Payments.
- In the Payment notifications card, under Permission levels or user groups, select one of the following:
- No one: No firm user receives payment notification emails. Dispute emails still go to the primary subscriber.
- Permission level: Select Administrator, Billing, or Accounts. All users with that permission level receive payment notification emails.
- User group: Select an existing user group, or click New user group to create one. All users in the group receive payment notification emails.
- Click Save.
Note: When the selected permission level or user group has no users, payment notification emails go to the primary subscriber.
