With Clio Manage, clients of law firms located in Canada or the US can pay their outstanding bills and trust requests online once the bill or trust request invoices are received via email. The email will contain the bill or trust request and a button that the client can click to pay the bill or trust request online. Once paid, the client will receive a confirmation email.
Note: These directions only apply to clients of law firms that have Clio Payments enabled.
Pay bills using eCheck
If your law firm sent your bill or trust request by email, you can pay the outstanding balance through eCheck by following the steps below.
Note: Only clients of firms located in the US can pay by eCheck.
- Go to the bill in your email inbox and click Pay online now.
- In the Pay by Credit Card section, click Pay by eCheck.
- In the Pay by eCheck section, enter your name and then click Select your bank.
- Click Continue.
- Search for and select your financial institution.
- If prompted to verify by reCAPTCHA, follow the directions and then click Continue.
- Follow the prompts to sign in to your bank account with the selected financial institution. Once this is done, you will be brought back to the payment window with your banking name and last four digits of your account linked.
- Click Review payment.
- Check the box to approve withdrawal of funds from your account.
- Optional: Check the box to securely store this payment method for future use. If you select this option, your firm can automatically charge this eCheck method for future bills and payment plans.
- Click Submit payment.
Pay bills using credit card
If your law firm sent your bill or trust request by email, you can pay the outstanding balance via credit card by following the steps below.
- Go to the bill in your email inbox and click Pay online now.
- In the Pay by Credit Card section, enter your credit card details.
- Under Billing information, enter the billing details for the credit card.
- Click Review payment.
- Optional: Check the box to securely store this payment method for future use. If you select this option, your firm can automatically charge this credit card method for future bills and payment plans.
- Click Submit payment.
Pay bills using digital wallets
If your law firm sent your bill or trust request by email, and you have either Apple Pay or Google Pay set up on your mobile device or web browser, you can pay the outstanding balance by following the steps below.
Note: You need to add your credit or debit card to an Apple or Google digital wallet before being able to pay via Apple Pay or Google Pay. Apple Pay is available on iPhones and Apple devices with Safari. Google Pay is available on devices with Chrome as the web browser.
- Go to the bill in your email inbox and click Pay online now.
- Click Pay.
- This button will appear under your bill details and amount but above the card payment section.
- Follow the prompts for Apple Pay or Google Pay to make the payment.
- Optional: Once the payment is completed, click Print to print a copy.
