In a personal injury matter, you need to keep track of your client's damages in order to help your client recover the cost of their injuries. Since personal injury cases can often take a long time to settle, you know how important it is to track damages in one central place. With Clio's Personal Injury Add-On, you can track various damages for a client directly within their matter file in Clio Manage and make changes at any time, allowing you to stay up-to-date on your client's case and collaborate with other members at your firm.

Note: This feature is a component of Clio's Personal Injury Add-On and is not available for all Clio subscription plans. See which plans have Clio's Personal Injury Add-On here. If you have questions about upgrading, contact Clio's support or sales teams here.

Tip: With the medical records component of Clio's Personal Injury Add-On, you can track medical providers, records, bills, and liens and outstanding balances. And with the settlement component, you can record proposed recovery amounts and your legal fees, and calculate your client's net recovery after deductions and legal fees. Add new damages

You can add damages relevant to your client's case directly in their matter. This allows you to keep track of all damages for your personal injury matter in one place and view a running total of all damages for the matter. After adding damages in this subtab and medical bills in the Medical records subtab (learn more about medical records here), you can view cards at the top of the Damages subtab that summarize totals for damages and medical bills, along with a medical bill summary of all medical bills recorded in the Medical records subtab.

  • Total paid and other damages: This card is the sum of all paid medical bills recorded in the Medical records subtab and the total of all damages recorded in the Damages subtab.
  • Total paid + owed and other damages: This card is the sum of all medical bill payments plus the outstanding balances owed to medical providers as recorded in the Medical records subtab, and the total of all damages recorded in the Damages subtab.
  • Medical bills summary: This table will show medical bills that were added to a medical provider's card in the Medical records subtab.
