Clio Draft: Install Microsoft Word Template Builder Add-in

The Template Builder add-in is an integration between Microsoft Word and Clio Draft. With templates built in the add-in, you can enter text once and have it populate across multiple sets of documents when drafting client-specific documents from the templates in the Clio Draft platform. It allows you to easily create, save, and edit templates directly within Microsoft Word, enabling advanced features like conditions to automate document drafting.

Important: The add-in is available only on Microsoft Office 2016 or later and can only be used on the desktop versions of Microsoft Word (Windows and Mac).

Install the add-in

You can download the Template Builder Add-in from the Microsoft add-ins store directly within your Microsoft Word desktop application.

  1. Open a blank Microsoft Word document.
  2. In the Home ribbon, click Add-ins.
  3. Use the search bar to search for Clio Draft.
  4. Click Add for the Clio Draft Template Builder add-in.
  5. Follow the prompts to install the add-in.

 

Log in to the add-in

Once installed, you must log in to connect the add-in to your Clio Draft account.

  1. In the Home ribbon, click Clio Draft Template Builder to open the add-in panel.
  2. Sign in to the add-in using your Clio Draft login credentials.

 

Uninstall the add-in

  1. Open a blank Microsoft Word document.
  2. In the Home ribbon, click Add-ins, and then click More Add-ins.
  3. At the top, click My Add-ins.
  4. Find the Clio Draft Template Builder add-in.
  5. Click the three dots and then select Remove.
