Clio Duo is an AI-powered tool built into Clio Manage designed to enhance your firm’s speed and efficiency. Once enabled, Clio Duo is available to all firm users, helping streamline workflows and administrative tasks while keeping client data secure. Whether you need to create tasks, summarize documents, or manage client communications, Clio Duo can help.
Important: Clio Duo is not available on all subscriptions. See which plans have Clio Duo here. If you need to upgrade your firm’s plan, ask a firm administrator.
How to access Clio Duo
You can access Clio Duo in several areas throughout your account. You can launch Clio Duo from the Global Search bar or the Clio Duo Badge to pull essential matter, client, and firm details. You can also summarize documents while viewing them in the Documents tab and quickly respond to client communications.

Documents
- Clio Duo will summarize documents from the Documents tab or the matter or client-specific Documents subtab. You can also use Clio Duo to summarize to a specific length.
- You can ask Duo to find a document if you recall its name (whole or in part). To find a document based on keywords in its body, use the global search function.
Communications
- From the Communications tab or the Communications subtab of a client or matter, you can use Clio Duo to quickly draft responses or generate summaries, saving time while maintaining professionalism.

Clear chat history
You can clear your Clio Duo chat history at any time to keep the interface clean or to troubleshoot issues. If you are experiencing technical problems, try another device or network. Run a speed test to identify any internet connection issues, and if you suspect the problem is related to your network for VPN, contact your IT administrator.
Important: New policies on your firm’s network or VPN may make it difficult to access Clio Duo.
- In Clio Manage, click the Global Search bar to reveal the Ask Duo subtab.
- Click the Ask Duo subtab to open the chat window.
- Alternatively, you can click the Clio Duo badge next to the Global Search bar to open the chat window.
- Click the three dots in the bottom corner and select Clear History.
View event log
You can view all actions taken by Clio Duo in the event log found in your settings. The log includes the timestamp, user, and a description of Clio Duo’s activities to help firms meet Clio’s strict compliance standards.
- Go to Settings and select Duo Event Log.
- View the records:
- Timestamp: This column shows the date and time of the action.
- User: This column represents the user on behalf of whom Clio Duo took action
- Event Description: This column provides details about the event that was actioned by Clio Duo.
- Optional: Under Details, click View for database IDs, user details, and IP address information.
