Clio Duo can provide detailed insights about your matters, helping you stay organized and make informed decisions quickly. It pulls from your communication logs, activities, calendar events, tasks, notes, bills, and document names to help you track upcoming deadlines, billable tasks, and more.
Important: Clio Duo is not available on all subscriptions. See which plans have Clio Duo here. If you need to upgrade your firm’s plan, ask a firm administrator.

Ask about matter details
You can request specific details about your matters using Clio Duo using the steps below.
Note: Currently, Clio Duo can display your most recent expense entries. Due to limitations in database querying Clio Duo does not support filtering expense entries by amount. Instead, Clio Duo can retrieve the five most recent entries and apply the necessary amount of filtering to these records.
- In Clio Manage, click the Clio Duo Badge to launch the chat panel. You can also click Ask Duo from the Global Search Bar.
- Select Ask a question and select an option from the dropdown menu, or enter your own question.
- Optional: Click the three dots at the end of the response to copy or provide feedback.
Generate matter summaries
You can ask Clio Duo to generate matter summaries in Clio Manage. When you request a matter summary from Clio Duo, you can ask for the matter description, status, client, practice area, open date, outstanding balance, work in progress, trust balance, and last activity.
Tip: Clio Duo can only generate summaries if you have the necessary matter permissions.
- In Clio Manage, click the Clio Duo Badge to launch the chat panel. You can also click Ask Duo from the Global Search Bar.
- Select Catch up on a matter, enter a matter, or select an option from the drop-down menu. You can also alternatively enter your own question to get caught up on a matter.
- E.g., Summarize the [matter name] for me.
Note: The dropdown will show your most recent matter.

Ask for contact details
Clio Duo makes it easy to access contact and client information. When you enter a specific query, Clio Duo will pull client contact details to help find the information you are looking for.
Tip: You can confirm contact permissions with an account administrator if Clio Duo cannot access specific contacts.
- In Clio Manage, click the Clio Duo Badge to launch the chat panel. You can also click Ask Duo from the Global Search Bar.
- Select Ask a question and pick an option from the dropdown menu, or enter your own question.
- Enter a specific and concise query. For example:
- Show me the contact information for [Contact Name].
- Show me all email communications for [Contact Name].
- Optional: Click the three dots at the end of the response to copy or provide feedback.
