Clio Duo: Manage Client Communications

Clio Duo helps manage client communications by pulling logs and drafting responses to messages. If you need to retrieve recent emails, phone logs, or text messages, Clio Duo can provide a history of communication across your matters. Clio Duo also offers options for drafting both quick, concise responses and longer, context-based replies, helping you stay efficient and responsive in your client interactions. 

Important: Clio Duo is not available on all subscriptions. See which plans have Clio Duo here. If you need to upgrade your firm’s plan, ask a firm administrator.

Ask about communications

You can ask Clio Duo to pull communications from anywhere in your Clio Manage. To do so, launch Clio Duo and ask about communications across your matters. Clio Duo will review your communication logs and respond in the chat modal.

Tip: Clio offers email, SMS text, and a secure online portal for client communication.

  1. In Clio Manage, click the Clio Duo Badge to reveal the chat panel. You can also click Ask Duo from the Global Search Bar.
  2. Select Ask a question and enter a specific and concise query. For example:
    • Show me the recent email communications for [Contact Name].
    • Show me the phone logs for [Matter Name].
  3. Optional: Select Help me write and select write a letter, write an email, or rewrite a paragraph, and provide the requested information so Clio Duo can help you write.
  4. Optional: Click the three dots at the end of the response to copy or provide feedback.

 

Draft quick or suggested responses

With Clio Duo in Clio Manage, you can quickly respond to client text messages using quick or suggested responses. Quick responses are brief, typically 3 to 4 words, while suggested responses offer longer, context-based replies tailored to the conversation. Clio Duo can also suggest responses via the Outlook add-in, saving you time while maintaining a professional tone.

Note: You can also get Clio Duo to suggest a response in the Clio Mobile App.

  1. Go to the main Communications tab or the Communications subtab for a contact or matter.
  2. From the table subheading, select Text Messages and click the text message you want to respond to, or click View to read the full message thread.
  3. Choose a response:
    • Select Quick response to draft a three to four-word message.
    • Select Suggest response to generate a longer, more detailed, context-based conversation.
  4. Optional: Generate a new response by clicking Suggest response again.
  5. Review the text and click Send.
