Manage AI helps you stay one step ahead by proactively reviewing your firm’s data to identify matters and activities that require your attention. These recommendations (formerly known as matter recommendations) are AI Actions you can take to prioritize your workload, flag risks, and help you capture unlogged billable time.
Note: This feature is available to firms with Essentials, Advanced, and Expand subscriptions. If you need to upgrade your firm’s plan, ask a firm administrator. Learn more about your plan's features.
Access recommendations (AI Actions)
Manage AI recommendations are surfaced in two key locations to guide your next best action on a matter. You can access these recommended actions via your Personal Dashboard or via a matter's Dashboard.
Personal Dashboard
Recommendations on your Personal Dashboard highlight matter-specific priorities like generating bills, upcoming events, relevant research to conduct and more.
- From the navigation bar in Clio Manage, go to Dashboard and select Personal Dashboard.
- Review the matter cards that feature high-priority items.
- Click on any matter card in from your top priorities to navigate directly to the matter or click into a specific suggested item on the matter card to initiate the suggested action.
Matter Dashboard
The Matter dashboard focuses on actions specific to that matter, giving you an immediate opportunity to act on a suggestion.
- Go to Matters and click on the matter name.
- Review the AI Actions card on the Matter dashboard.
- Recommendations may include:
- Drafting a client communication based on recent activity (e.g., a completed task or uploaded document).
- Reviewing events that Manage AI has captured from documents.
- New bills that are ready for your approval.
- Suggested time entries from unlogged communication, notes, or completed tasks.
- Bill recommendations for matters with a high Work In Progress (WIP) balance (e.g., over $1,500.00).
Tip: Click on the gear icon in the AI Actions panel to customize the recommendations you want Manage AI to make for your matters. The selections you make apply across all matters.
Understand proactive recommendations
Manage AI analyzes data across your account (including calendars, tasks, documents, events, and notes) to provide actionable recommendations. Updates run overnight to ensure accuracy.
Proactive matter recommendations
Manage AI will identify important matters and risks, which may include:
- Matters with billable activity exceeding predefined thresholds.
- Matters with upcoming critical deadlines or urgent meetings.
- Matters with high-priority tasks that are due soon.
- Document summaries needed for quick context.
Activity recommendations
Activity recommendations are based on billable actions from the past 24 hours. They help ensure you capture every billable moment.
- Proactive activity recommendations suggest time entries for logged communications, notes, or completed tasks.
