Set up your workspace
In this checklist, you will be setting up your Clio Work environment so that Vincent AI has the context it needs to deliver relevant research and analysis. Take the time to verify your account settings before your first session to ensure your default jurisdiction is correct and your conversations are logged to the right matter.
- Verify your mailing address and account information in Clio Manage, as this sets your default research jurisdiction.
- Manage your Clio Work subscription and user licenses (administrators).
Note: If you also use Clio Manage, your matters, contacts, and documents are available in Clio Work when you select a matter before starting a conversation with Vincent.
Learn the workspace
Before starting your first conversation, familiarize yourself with Vincent's workspace layout, including how to navigate workflows, access conversation history, and connect a matter.
- Navigate Vincent in Clio Work: locate workflow cards, review conversation history, add documents, and connect conversations to matters.
- Start and guide conversations, including understanding prompts and responses, and how to manage the conversation outputs.
- Understand the two interaction modes: Agentic Mode (describe the outcome you want and Vincent plans the steps) and Classic Mode (select a workflow card and guide each step manually). Learn more in Start and Guide Conversations in Clio Work.
Research and analyze
The following topics will help you conduct legal research, analyze documents, and build arguments using Vincent AI and the Clio Library.
- Ask research questions in Clio Work: perform jurisdiction-specific legal research backed by cited primary and secondary sources from the Clio Library.
- Analyze legal documents in Clio Work: upload and analyze contracts, complaints, depositions, and other files for AI-powered extraction and review.
- Build arguments in Clio Work: combine your matter-specific documents and legal research into a structured legal position for motions, briefs, and strategy memos.
- Compare documents and use Vincent Tables in Clio Work: compare key details across multiple files or extract structured data at scale across up to 500 documents.
Use the Clio Library
The Clio Library provides access to over one billion primary law sources, dockets, and secondary materials. You can search the Library directly or access it through Vincent's research responses.
- Search and filter in Clio Library: find case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources using keywords, Boolean, and advanced search.
- Understand case law analysis and citators: verify whether case law remains good authority using color-coded treatment indicators and precedent maps.
Take Clio Work on the go
Access Vincent from your mobile device to continue conversations, ask research questions, and review results when you are away from your desk.
