Note: All users can use custom fields, but only users with administrator permissions can create, edit, or delete custom fields and custom field sets.
Delete custom fields
When deleting a custom field, you have the option delete the custom field entirely from your account, or you can delete the custom field but retain the field in any existing contacts or matters.
Important: If you delete a custom field but choose to retain the field on existing matters or contacts, the custom field will continue to appear in filters and searches.
- Go to Settings > Custom Fields.
- Select Matter custom fields or Contact custom fields.
- Ensure the Custom fields subtab is selected.
- Find your custom field and click Delete.
- Select whether you want to remove the custom field from any existing matters or contacts.
- When the warning prompt appears, click Delete.
Delete custom field sets
- Go to Settings > Custom Fields.
- Select Matter custom fields or Contact custom fields.
- Select Custom field sets.
- Find your field set and click Delete.
- When the warning prompt appears, click Delete.
