Clio Timekeeping is an AI-powered feature that automatically captures your billable activity and prepares draft time entries for you to review. This article explains how to review those suggested time entries, make corrections, and add them to a matter so you can bill for them.
Note: Clio Timekeeping needs to be set up before it can create time entries. To get started, see Enable Clio Timekeeping in Clio Manage and Set Up Clio Timekeeping in the Clio Desktop App. To install the Clio Desktop App itself, see Set Up Clio Desktop App.
As you work, Clio Timekeeping creates entries to track the work you do. While you are working outside of the web app, for example in your email, it may make a determination about the matter that the work is relevant to using names, email addresses, and other information available. At a regular interval, you can review the list of these entries to make any needed corrections and to decide which ones should be added to a matter as a time entry that you can then quickly and easily bill for.
Note: You will only be able to view and review your own time entries created by Clio Timekeeping. There may be a delay of about 15 minutes between your activity and its suggested time entry appearing.
Review and add suggested time entries
To review and add the AI-generated suggested time entries:
- In Clio Manage, go to the main Activities tab. Alternatively, you can go to your activities directly from the Clio Desktop App by clicking View entries.
- Select the My time entries subtab.
- Optional: For a time entry line item, click the edit icon (pencil) in the Actions column to make any adjustments to the entry, then click Save.
- Toggle the Bill-ready column to on. This will add the time entry to the matter's Unpaid bills.
Note: When you select a time entry, the panel on the right shows the activity that Clio Timekeeping captured toward that entry.
