Perform global search
With the global search bar in both Clio Manage and Clio Grow, you can use a keyword search to find data contained within your firm's contacts and matters. You can also search for information that may not necessarily be related to a contact or matter record using the Clio Manage search bar.
Search for contact or matter:
- Type any part of the matter or contact in the search field in the Clio Manage header.
- Press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
- Scroll through the results and select the resource you are searching for.
Search for other data:
- Type a keyword in the search field in the Clio Manage header.
- If you see No results found in Contacts or Matters, click Search all categories.
- Look through the results and select the resource you are searching for.
- Type data for a matter or contact in the search field in the Clio Grow header.
- You can search for names, email addresses, phone numbers, notes, addresses, and custom fields.
- Clio Grow will display up to 20 results. Scroll through the results and select the resource you are searching for.
Filter by keywords
You can filter search results by keyword when viewing the following tabs in Clio Manage: Tasks, Matters, Contacts, Activities, Billing, Documents, and Communications.
- Go to one of the tabs listed above.
- Type text into the search field.
- Press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
Conflict of interest checks
Performing a conflict of interest check is an essential step before taking on a new client. You can check for a conflict of interest in Clio use the global search bar and custom fields.
Step 1: Create custom field for conflict check:
Before using the global search bar for a conflict of interest check, start by creating a custom field to verify that the conflict check has been performed.
- Follow the steps listed here to create a custom field.
- In the Name field, enter Conflict check performed.
- For Type, select Checkbox.
- Check the boxes for Default and Required. If you select these options, you will not be able to save the matter without marking whether the conflict check was completed.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Use the global search bar to check for conflict of interest:
- Type any part of the matter or contact in the search field in the Clio Manage header.
- Press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
- Scroll through the results and select the resource you are searching for.
Step 3: Mark conflict check as done when creating a new matter:
Once you have checked the box indicating that a conflict check was completed on a new matter, you can view the custom field and conflict check response when viewing the Details section of the matter's Dashboard.
- Follow the steps here to create a matter.
- In the Custom fields section of the matter form, check the box for your conflict check custom field.
- Click Save matter to save the matter.
Step 1: Create new custom field or sync Clio Manage custom field for conflict check:
Before using the global search bar for a conflict of interest check, start by creating a custom field to verify that the conflict check has been performed. You can also sync an existing custom field for conflict checks from Clio Manage to Clio Grow.
Create new custom field in Clio Grow:
- Follow the steps listed here to create a custom field.
- Under Field name, enter Conflict check performed.
- For Field type, select Checkbox.
- Check the box for Add to all new matters. If you select this option, the custom field will automatically be added to all new matters that you create.
- Click Create custom field.
Sync existing custom field from Clio Manage to Clio Grow:
- In Clio Grow, go to Settings > Custom fields.
- Under Custom fields, click Sync Clio Manage custom fields.
Step 2: Use the global search bar to check for conflict of interest:
- Type data for a matter or contact in the search field in the Clio Grow header.
- You can search for names, email addresses, phone numbers, notes, addresses, and custom fields.
- Clio Grow will display up to 20 results. Scroll through the results and select the resource you are searching for.
Step 3: Mark conflict check as done when creating a new matter:
Once you have checked the box indicating that a conflict check was completed on a new matter, you can view the custom field and conflict check response when viewing the Matter Details section on the matter's page.
- Follow the steps here to create a matter.
- Go to the matter's Matter Details section.
- Click Add a custom field.
- Select your conflict check custom field and then check the box if the conflict check has been completed.
- Click Add & Close.
