Contacts can be exported out of Clio Manage and Clio Grow for reporting purposes. You can also convert contacts and their data from Clio Grow to Clio Manage when prospective clients become clients and you are ready to begin billing.
Convert contacts from Manage to Grow
If you only need to import one or a couple of contacts into Clio Grow, and those contacts exist in Clio Manage, you can use the Clio Manage import option in Clio Grow.
- In Clio Grow, go to Contacts.
- Click Create new contact.
- Select Convert from Clio Manage.
- Search for the contact. Once selected, you can select the contact type, lead source, and add any tags.
- Click Submit.
Filter contacts
- Go to Contacts
- Optional: Select one of the All, People, or Companies quick filters.
- Click Filters, select your filters, and click Apply filters.
- Go to Contacts.
- Click Apply filters.
- Optional: Use the search box to search for a matter.
- Select your filters.
Export and print contacts in Clio Manage
When exporting contacts from the main Contacts tab, the export will only show data that you entered in the contact form when the contact was created or edited. If you need to export contact-specific information such as notes, documents, transactions, etc., you can do so from that particular subtab.
- Go to Contacts.
- Optional: Select one of the All, People, or Companies quick filters.
- Optional: Select Filters to apply specific parameters.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Export.
- Select the export format. If you select CSV, you can choose to show all columns from the table or only columns that are visible/checked.
- Click Export.
- Optional: Print the export.
Export contacts in Clio Grow to CSV
You can back up your Clio Grow data by exporting a CSV list of your contacts and matters. When exporting contacts in Clio Grow, you can export multiple contacts from the main Contacts page or you can export specific information for just one contact.
- Go to Contacts.
- Select View all, Leads, or Clients.
- Optional: Select Apply filters to apply specific parameters.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Export all contacts to CSV.
- Click Send CSV.
- Go to the email and click the link to the CSV file.
- Go to Contacts and click the contact’s name. You can also search for the contact in the search bar.
- Click the Contact Options dropdown and select Export to CSV.
Convert contacts from Grow to Manage
When a prospective client becomes a client, you can convert all the contact and/or matter information from Clio Grow into Clio Manage to begin billing and accepting payments.
Step 1: Set up the Clio Grow and Clio Manage integration
Before converting contacts and/or matters from Clio Grow into Clio Manage, you need to connect both accounts and set up the integration. Learn more here.
Step 2: Convert a contact
When you convert a contact from Clio Grow to Clio Manage, only the contact gets converted. If you want to convert both the contact and the contact’s matters, convert from the matter’s page instead. See below for a list of items and fields that are converted.
- In Clio Grow, go to the contact.
- Click Convert to Clio Manage.
- Add any necessary information
- Click Convert contact.
- View the contact in Clio Manage by clicking Open contact in Clio Manage. You can also select View in Clio Manage on the contact’s page.
Converted items and fields
When you convert a contact from Clio Grow to Clio Manage for the first time, not all items and fields are converted. The table below shows which items and fields are converted from Clio Grow to Clio Manage and which items and fields are not converted.
