Document Review with Vincent Tables lets you extract structured data from multiple documents simultaneously. You define the table structure, and Vincent AI populates each row based on the documents you upload. The results give you a working data set across your document collection before you begin your review.
Important: All Vincent AI output requires final review and due diligence by a qualified legal professional before use in litigation strategy, pleadings, or court proceedings.
Understand Document Review with Vincent Tables
In Clio Work, Document Review with Vincent Tables is a structured extraction tool. You define the table structure, upload your documents, and Vincent populates each row with analysis from those documents. Each row represents one document. Each column represents one data point Vincent extracts across the set.
Note: Document Review with Vincent Tables is designed for extracting structured data across a large document set. If you need to compare two documents side-by-side and identify disputed positions or material differences between versions, see Compare Documents in Clio Work. If you need to analyse a single document in depth, including contracts, depositions, complaints, and pleadings, see Analyse Legal Documents in Clio Work.
Set up your table
The Document Review with Vincent Tables window offers three starting options.
Tip: To save the current table structure for reuse, select Save as Template in the table toolbar. Saved templates appear in your User Templates tab.
- Select Start with an empty table to manually build a table structure.
- In the table editor, upload documents, then add columns and define each data point.
- Select Let Vincent build a table for you to describe your analysis task and have Vincent generate the table structure.
- Enter your description and submit.
- Vincent generates the column structure based on your input, then prompts you to upload documents.
- Select Vincent Templates to browse pre-built structures, or User Templates to access templates you have saved from previous reviews.
- Optional: Use the Search Templates field to find a specific template by name.
- Select a template to load the column structure.
Add documents to the table
Select Add Documents in the toolbar to open the document picker. Four upload sources are available.
Note: You can also drag and drop files directly onto the table at any time. Vincent begins populating the table as documents are added. Rows populate as each document finishes. You can review results and guide the table before the review is complete.
- Add from Matter
Opens a modal showing all documents attached to the current matter. Documents are listed with their name, description, and last updated date. Select individual files or use the checkboxes to select all files. Select Add [n] documents to confirm.
- File Upload
Upload individual files from your device.
- Folder Upload
Upload an entire folder from your device.
- Upload from Google Drive
Select files directly from Google Drive.
Add and configure columns
Select Add Column in the table header to add a new column at any time, including while documents are processing. Each column requires three fields.
- Column Name
The label that appears in the table header.
- Question
The specific question or instruction Vincent uses to populate that column for every document in the table.
- Type
-
The data format for the column. Five types are available:
- Text: Returns Vincent's plain-language analysis.
- Verbatim: Returns a direct quoted passage from the document.
- True/False: Returns a yes/no determination.
- Date: Returns a date value.
- Number: Returns a numeric value.
Work with the table
Once documents are uploaded, you can monitor extraction progress, refine your table structure, and interact with results in real time. Vincent begins populating rows as each document is processed, so you can review findings and adjust columns without waiting for the full set to complete. When the table is ready, you can export results or continue the analysis with follow-up questions across the entire document set.
Monitor processing status
The status bar shows real-time progress across all documents. Rows populate as each document is completed. You do not need to wait for all documents to finish before reviewing results.
Edit columns
Select Edit Columns in the toolbar to add, remove, or rename columns after the table has been created. You can also select Add Column directly from the table to extend the structure while documents are being processed.
Sort and filter
Use Sort and Filter in the toolbar to organise rows by any column value or narrow the view to a specific subset of documents.
Save as template
Select Save as Template to save the current column structure to your User Templates for reuse on future reviews.
Download the table
Select the download icon in the top right to export the completed table.
Continue the conversation
Use the Ask a follow-up question text box below the table to interact with your document set, refine the table structure, or draft output. For example:
- Add new information: Add a column with the price.
- Summarise findings across the set: Which of these contracts are currently in force?
- Identify specific clauses: Which documents contain a termination for convenience clause?
- Summarise key risk factors: Summarise the key risk factors across all uploaded agreements.
- Review upcoming dates: Which leases expire within the next 12 months?
- Generate a work product: Write an email to my client summarising the key obligations for these suppliers.
