If you use Clio Work independently of Clio Manage, you can add matters, manage contacts, and handle your documents directly within the Clio Work platform. Adding these details and uploading matter-specific documents helps provide the necessary context for your work that is usually available from Clio Manage.

Once you are up and running, Core Workflows walks through key workflows you may use day to day, including how to interact with and prompt Clio Work effectively. While these resources apply to Clio Work broadly, some steps or options may look slightly different depending on whether you are using Clio Work with or without Clio Manage.
This article covers the core Clio Manage functionality available to you if you use Clio Work without Manage.
Create and edit a matter
When you create a matter in Clio Work Standalone, you can add matter details, set matter permissions and/or block certain users, choose who to notify when the matter status changes, add additional contacts related to the matter, apply tags to categorize the matter, and create document folders.
To create a matter in Clio Work Standalone, follow the same steps as in Clio Manage. Refer to Create matters in Clio Manage for how to create a new matter, and Understand and complete matter form sections in Clio Manage for more information about each of these details.
Create and edit a contact
When you create a contact in Clio Work Standalone, you can add contact information such as address, email, phone number, and website, apply tags to categorize the contact, and add Know Your Client (KYC) or Know Your Business (KYB) details.

Documents
As with Clio Manage, you can manage documents in Clio Work Standalone the same way. You can create and upload document folders, upload files and delete and restore documents.

Settings
Settings relevant to Clio Work Standalone can be accessed via the main Settings tab. You can learn more about managing your account and payment information, users and user groups, roles and permissions, the recovery bin, security and compliance, user profile details like the user login email, choosing between dark and light mode for your Clio account appearance, notifications, and firm preferences.
