Preconfigured Accounts

Clio Manage and Clio Grow allow you to create customizations to suit the specific needs of your firm. Depending on your firm’s practice area and how your firm operates, your account may be preconfigured with ready-to-use customizations when you sign up with Clio. These customizations are designed to save you time during setup so that you can get started quickly. Preconfigured accounts will have ready-to-use, practice-area-specific custom field sets, matter stages, and matter templates in Clio Manage, and intake forms in Clio Grow.

Note: Preconfigured accounts are currently available to eligible firms with practice areas in Family Law, Criminal Law, or Personal Injury.

 

Understand preconfigured custom fields

The preconfigured custom field sets help you store and organize the information that you typically need about your clients and their matters.

To view the custom fields that your account has been preconfigured with, go to Settings > Custom fields. Select the Matter custom fields or Contact custom fields subtab to view the custom fields and custom field sets that have been added to your account. The information below provides an overview of the custom fields and custom field sets you may see.

Family Law

The family law custom fields preconfiguration comprises three matter and two contact sets.

Matter custom fields

  • Case Info: This set allows you to capture information like the client’s role in the case, opposing counsel, judge, court, county, case number, and more.
  • Marriage Info: This set allows you to capture information like the date and place of marriage, the date of separation, the date of the prenuptial document, the number of children, and more.
  • Minor Children:This set allows you to add personal information about children to the matter.

Contact custom fields

  • Personal Information: This set allows you to capture information like initials, alias(es), a drivers license number, a social security number, gender, relationship in the family, marital status, and more.
  • Attorney Information: This set allows you to capture an attorney’s state bar number.

Criminal Law

The criminal law custom fields preconfiguration comprises two matter and one contact sets.

Matter custom fields

  • Case Info: This set allows you to capture information like charges, charge level, date and location of the alleged crime, county and city of the arrest, as well as the court, date, and time of the hearing.
  • Arrest Info: This set allows you to capture information like the arresting officer and agency, the victim, the booking number, summons number, and date of arrest.

Contact custom fields

  • Defendant Information: This set allows you to capture information about the defendant like alias(es), gender, height, weight, eye color, and their prior convictions.

Personal Injury

The personal injury custom fields preconfiguration comprises five matter and one contact sets.

Matter custom fields

  • Incident Info: This set allows you to capture information like the incident type, date, time, location, description of injuries, and more.
  • MVA Info: This set allows you to capture information like the date, time, location, summary of incident, description of injuries, report details, and more.
  • Litigation Info: This set allows you to capture information like the case number, associated matter, opposing party, opposing counsel, judge, court, and relevant dates.
  • Defense Insurance: This set allows you to capture information like the adjuster name, claim number, policy holder, policy number, and policy limits.

    Note: You can add an additional field set for a second defense insurance organization.

  • Client Insurance: This set allows you to capture information like the insurance company, adjuster, claim number, policy holder, and policy number.

Note: Depending on the type of matters your firm typically works with you may choose to remove the Incident Info or MVA Info custom fields set, since these sets collect information for different types of incidents. Alternatively, you can keep both sets and collect information in the relevant set for each client.

Contact custom fields

  • Personal Info: This set allows you to capture information like a social security number, drivers license number, and gender.

Understand preconfigured matter stages

Matter stages are kanban-style boards that you can use to visualize and track matter progress in Clio Manage. You can view your ready-to-use matter stages in your Clio Manage account. Once you create a matter in Clio Manage, you can add it to a matter stage and move it between stages to help you keep track of the matter’s progression.

 

Understand preconfigured matter templates

In Clio Manage, you can streamline your matter creation process using matter templates. Matter templates contain preset information that will automatically populate when you create a new matter or edit an existing matter.

You can view your ready-to-use matter templates in your Clio Manage account. Learn how to use a matter template here. If you tend to use a specific template for most of your matters, you can also choose to set that template as your default for all matters.

 

Understand preconfigured intake forms

In Clio Grow, an intake form can be used to quickly and conveniently collect personal and case-specific information from prospective clients. You can view your ready-to-use intake forms in your Clio Grow account. Learn how to view and send intake forms. Once you get comfortable with using intake forms, you can learn how to create additional intake forms or how to edit or delete existing forms to suit the needs of your firm.

 

Edit or delete your preconfigurations

The preconfigurations are designed to help you get started quickly. However, if your firm has specific needs that the preconfigurations do not address, you can either edit them, or if you would like to start from scratch, you can delete them.
